Biography
MT (b. 1999) is a Chinese-Canadian multidisciplinary artist based in Tkaronto/Toronto whose practice investigates ‘物我一体’ (wu wo yi ti) – the unity of subject and object – through evolving engagements with artificial intelligence as an artistic medium. With a background in Computational Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, MT blends systematic analysis with emotional sensitivity to examine complex social and cultural phenomena. His work, which began by documenting street life and social movements, now explores shared human experiences and their manifestations across boundaries. Recently, MT’s projects have expanded into conceptual multimedia installations that interrogate the fluid relationships between artist, artwork, and audience, blurring distinctions and fostering new forms of human-AI collaboration.MT's work has been exhibited in Canada and China, including the CONTACT Photography Festival in Toronto (2024), 500px Visual Festival in several Chinese cities (2024), and San Sheng Art Space in Markham (2023). His expertise in documentary photography has been recognized through his role as a Juror for the 3rd Xiaohuoqiu Documentary Photography Award (2024). He has also received various recognitions from 500px, International Photography Awards, Muse Photography Awards, and Neutral Density Photography Awards.
